Responsibilities: Requirements:
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of duties including market research, product/services evaluation, and cont ent copywriting of our corporate as well as client websites; works with customers to understand and assist them in addressing business, operational and public service needs and issues through use of Web-based and Web-content technologies; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Web Content Specialist is a professional class in the communications area. The specialist will be responsible for the development and posting of an ever-expanding amount of content on the our corporate internal and external client Web sites. The specialist will possess strong writing, editing and organizational skills, have a working knowledge of graphics and design, ability to edit photos and have an understanding of the process for producing audio and video content. The specialist will ensure that information and communication delivered to Web viewers, that it is accurate, timely and user-friendly.
1. Write articles for the internal and external Web sites. Included would be revising content already on the our managed websites. Copy edit and proofread all Web content. Update external Web site with fresh news and information. Assist our internal staff as well as our client in posting information to the internal and external Web sites. Work with staff, partners, and customers to ensure timely, fresh public Web content.
2. Assists in developing and implemen ting information strategies and plans for the Web; participates in meetings and strategy sessions with key audiences, including the department director, communications manager, the Web developer and other relevant audiences.
3. Plans and implements creative Web presentations; duties would include developing content, written, audio and video. Creates or assists in creating maps, graphics and other presentation tools to help illustrate web content.
4. Participates in planning and implementing web content presentations, information and messages to the targeted audiences. Assists in writing or rewriting news releases, media advisories, articles, fact sheets, and other key tools for Web presentation.
6. Responds to a wide range of internal and external customer inquiries, requests and concerns relating to the internal and external Web sites, by telephone or in person, and assists in disseminating a wide variety of information through t he Web.
7. Monitors ongoing projects in all divisions to ensure the most timely and relevant information relating to the work has been posted on the Web.
1. Web site usability concepts, such as navigational aids, knowledge management, information rendering.
2. Current and emerging Internet/Intranet technologies and associated products, tools and equipment.
3. Principles and practices of effective writing, photos, video and communication.
4. Effective business communications and correct language usage.
5. Marketing and communications strategies and techniques.
6. Internet/Intranet technologies and associated products, tools and equipment.
Ability to:
1. Analyze and make sound recommendations on Web presentation dealing with the media, community outreach.
2. Assist in developing Web methods and techniques to improve internal and external communication.
3. Write, edit, proofread, interview, research and report.
4. Communicate clearly, both in the written and spoken word.
5. Coordinate work with other departments.
6. Generate interest and convey messages through Web graphic treatments and persuasive writing.
7. Present information clearly, logically and persuasively on the Web.
